About the Job :
The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Engineering Composes team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Brno. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to make a difference in the way Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) distribution is built. You will gain a deep understanding of the build pipeline and related technologies. You will be making sure that our solution fulfills the highest possible enterprise performance, usability, and supportability criteria. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for RHEL deliverables in all active livestreams, including the six-month maintenance phase of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) minor releases and beyond (EUS, TUS, E4S, AMC, etc.). You'll serve as a mentor to others and advise them on researching new features and developing automated pipelines. We'll need you to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, and the willingness to learn new things.
What will you do?
Set up and maintain automated build systems; ensure that individual software packages can be combined and built into deployable artifacts with minimal manual intervention.
You will work with numerous artifacts and stakeholders that together represent Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Evaluate all relevant information from stakeholders and help to make decisions on planning/triage meetings
Help your team gather customer use cases to identify the most troubling components by talking to program managers and solution architects
5+ years of software development experience
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
Well-versed in solutions
Ability to assist in analyzing customer issues and guide other team members through performing root cause analysis; excellent abilities in discovering issues and performing root causes across subsystems and products
Excellent skills and background on Linux
Ability to build solid relations in the team and encourage other team members to do the same; ability to lead by example
Experience with Python
Bonus: experience with Konflux
