Job Summary:
The Red Hat Ecosystem Engineering team is looking for an Associate Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of technical associates developing solutions that solve real world problems for OpenShift users.
The position involves both leadership and technical oversight to ensure alignment with Red Hat’s strategic goals. You will oversee daily activities, guide feature development, and promote the professional growth of team members while collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the quality and timeliness of releases.
What you will do:
Coach and mentor a distributed team of individual contributors
Foster a collaborative work environment, where engineers explore complex problems in partnership with peer teams, that have impact across Red Hat’s offerings
Work with cross-functional engineering managers and teams to ensure alignment
Work with leadership to create roadmaps, and execution plans to deliver the agreed functionality on time.
Work closely with technical leads to direct the team in agile development.
Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders.
What you will bring:
Previous experience leading or managing software engineering teams
A history of delivering high-quality software solutions on time as either a manager or team lead
Strong problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to identify potential, develop people, and motivate and build a team
Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English
Passion for open source principles and practices, including transparency, inclusive collaboration, and the release early & often philosophy
Ability to dive into various technical areas and provide guidance when necessary
The following are considered a plus:
Experience with a container ecosystem such as Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift
Familiarity with any of the following topics: high-availability, virtualization, networking, or storage
Experience working with public clouds, complex distributed systems, and large corporate accounts
