Applied Science Research Lab Manager - Nvidia

NVIDIA is looking for a lab manager to join our scientific computing organization. In this role, you will build, manage, and maintain innovative next generation clusters in an R&D environment to create next-generation technology. You will be responsible for provisioning state of the art software and hardware platforms, and working together with strategic technology partners as well as NVIDIA researchers to enable scientific breakthroughs in exciting new domains.

What you will be doing:

Lead a team that is responsible for planning, building and provisioning complex next generation supercomputers in an active research environment.
Work closely with research, engineering and architecture teams to understand and plan clusters for validating and testing new technology solutions.
Manage relationships with strategic technology partners.
Manage daily operation and support within our applied research lab.
Perform troubleshooting - network, operating system and user software.
Build, expand, and mentor the team to address growing demands and requirements.
Innovate! Influence NVIDIA and partner technologies based on learnings within the lab.

What we need to see:

A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of managerial experience.
10+ years of relevant overall professional experience.
Dedication to maximizing system up-time / user-productivity with innovative and timely solutions for addressing issues with preproduction or first gen HW and SW at the bleeding edge.
Experience in Data center management from a multidisciplinary company or research center, including handling power, cooling, space, and user environments.
Deep understanding of operating systems, computer networks, and high-performance hardware and software in scientific computing.
Deep knowledge of distributed resource scheduling systems and orchestration tools such as Slurm, K8s.
Strong organizational and project management skills, comfortable with multitasking in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and changing requirements.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

Knowledge of HPC and AI solution technologies from CPU’s and GPU’s to high-speed interconnects and supporting software
Familiarity with CUDA and managing GPU-accelerated computing systems
Background with datacenter requirements for quantum technologies

The base salary range is 248,000 USD - 442,750 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
