Technical Data Steward Manager - McAfee

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced data manager to join our Product Data Engineering (PDE) team as the Technical Data Steward Manager, reporting to the PDE Lead. As a key leader of McAfee’s enterprise data management strategy, you will be responsible for leading a team that develops and translates business needs into technical requirements, manages logical data models, and works closely with data ingestion, integration, and curation teams.

This role requires a deep understanding of: 
• Developing, managing, and aligning technical data requirements for product features; 
• Logical data modeling;
•Complex metadata management; 
•Data governance.

This is a Hybrid position located in either Waterloo or Toronto, Canada, Candidates must be with in a You will be required to be onsite on an as-needed basis, typically 1 to 6 times a month. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to one of the two locations and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

About the role:  

  • Manage and lead the Technical Data Stewardship team, providing strategic guidance, mentorship, and leadership  

  • Collaborate with business leaders to define requirements and priorities and to proactively understand and update metric logic and definition  

  • Serve as the point of escalation for changes to the structure, definition(s), and security of identified data objects​ and for Data Quality/ Data Governance teams when defined processes are insufficient to resolve issues​  

  • Oversee technical requirements (e.g., aggregation level, granularity) based on metrics established by business teams.  

  • Own and manage logical data model for the Enterprise Analytics team in tandem with ingestion and curation leads . 

  • Oversee data catalog entries and enforce data cataloging rules.  

  • Manage access controls for end data products . 

  

About you:    

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Engineering, or Statistics preferred. 

  • Experienced people management in leading small, high-performing teams, preferably in software engineering, data engineering, or data program management . 

  • Bring 10+ years of experience in data engineering or data engineering program management . 

  • Have hands-on experience with and understanding of the following:  

  • SQL  

  • Logical data modeling, including experience designing logical data models  

  • Python or other programming language  

  • Databricks or other cloud data management platform  

  • Bring proven experience in data management, requirements management, and metadata management
