About the Role

As a Product Design Manager at Innovaccer, you will lead a team of talented designers to create impactful, user-centered solutions that align with business goals and improve customer satisfaction. In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving the strategic direction of the product
design process, ensuring your team’s work is informed by data, user insights, and cross-functional collaboration. You will play a crucial role in scaling design efforts, optimizing processes, and aligning your team’s goals with the larger business objectives. Your leadership will extend beyond
design execution, as you mentor your team, foster career growth, and champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

You will be expected to manage resources effectively, allocate project priorities, and ensure that the team has the support and tools needed to thrive. Through your strategic leadership, you will create an environment where designers can take risks, innovate, and contribute to high-impact
initiatives that advance the company’s product goals. As a key advocate for design, you’ll promote the importance of user empathy, ensure that diverse perspectives are integrated into the design process, and lead initiatives that directly contribute to customer success and product excellence.

Your role will require a balance between tactical day-to-day design management and broader strategic thinking, ensuring that your team’s work is aligned with both immediate product needs and long-term business growth. This role will involve collaboration across departments, managing team capacity, and driving design initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes for both the business and users.

While there are no strict rules around team size at Innovaccer, Product Design Leads typically oversee 0-3 individual contributors and maintain a strong focus on delivering high-quality product feature work, often closely related to the work of their reports. Design Managers, on the other hand, are responsible for managing larger teams, including Leads, or overseeing teams that handle multiple differentiated products. As a fast-moving startup, Design Managers not only lead their teams but also ensure that our high design standards are met. In critical situations, Design Managers may step in to own projects and features in an individual contributor capacity to ensure project success.

A Day in the life

• Lead and mentor a team of designers, providing career guidance and ensuring your team is motivated, engaged, and aligned with company goals.
• Drive design excellence by optimizing processes and workflows, improving efficiency, and ensuring consistent, high-quality design outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in product, engineering, and other departments to ensure design solutions align with business objectives and user needs.
• Facilitate design sprints, workshops, and reviews, helping your team solve complex problems with strategic, data-driven solutions.
• Promote a culture of openness and feedback, where team members share progress and challenges regularly with stakeholders and leadership.
• Manage staffing and project resourcing strategically, ensuring the team is well-positioned to meet product deadlines and deliver impactful solutions.
• Foster a user-centered design approach, advocating for the integration of diverse perspectives and user feedback into the design process.
• Lead initiatives that impact customer success, driving improvements that enhance product usability and align with customer satisfaction goals.
• Champion mentorship and citizenship within your team, ensuring a culture of support, inclusivity, and collaboration.

What You Need

• 8+ years of product design experience, with a strong track record of delivering design solutions for web, mobile, or desktop platforms.
• At least 3 years of experience managing or mentoring a team of UX and visual designers.
• A Bachelor’s degree in design, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience (a postgraduate degree is preferred).
• Expertise in design processes, systems, and tools like Figma or Miro, with experience optimizing workflows and improving team efficacy.
• Proven ability to advocate for design within cross-functional teams, collaborating with product and engineering to ensure design aligns with long-term business and user goals.
• Experience fostering a culture of growth and mentorship, including career development and team-building skills.
• Strong leadership skills, including managing strategic project staffing and ensuring team alignment with company objectives.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and the ability to collaborate effectively with development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Preferred Skills

• U.S Healthcare industry knowledge and expertise
• Experience designing both B2B, B2C, and SaaS products and experiences
• Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or a related field, postgraduate degree preferred for people manager roles or equivalent professional experience
• Experience using A.I. tools and a strong understanding of A.I. user experiences
