Accounting Manager - Aura

QUICK SUMMARY

We’re seeking an experienced accounting manager, preferably with consumer products and e-commerce experience. You’ll drive the financial close process and take on a variety of projects at a high-growth, profitable company. Experience with automation, Netsuite, and Amazon preferred. NYC, SF, or remote.

Aura is available in the US, Canada, and Europe, both on Aura’s websites and at major retailers.

Founded by two early Twitter engineers, Aura market leader in premium, digital picture frames. We liberate the photos that might otherwise stay trapped on smartphones – and deliver a private family photosharing experience, connecting loved ones around the world. The broader team includes leaders from top tech and product companies and is based in NYC, San Francisco, London, Shenzhen, and remotely around the world.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Manage and develop the US accounting staff and liaise with the Asia-based team to ensure efficient, accurate period close and adherence to Aura’s financial controls. 
• Collaborate with the Controller to drive the full cycle accounting close, with a particular focus on supporting revenue (Shopify, Amazon, and Wholesale). 
• Focus on software automation and process improvements to speed up the financial close, enhance controls, and support FP&A.
• Maximize the department’s leverage from our ERP (Netsuite) and other software tools including Blackline and Ramp.  
• Support Controller and CFO to achieve successful, efficient global audits. 
• Work closely with Aura’s manufacturing team in both the US and China to ensure accurate inventory accounting and management.
• Continuously evaluate control environment for policy and process improvement opportunities to ensure protection of Aura’s financial assets, minimize fraud risk, and achieve successful audits.
• Support and help manage Aura’s inventory management reporting including inventory aging, stock reports, component purchase tracking and costing, and other data.
• Manage the accounting and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
• Manage various other projects including equity and debt accounting, application of technical accounting standards (e.g. ASC 606, ASC 842) 
• Participate in weekly evening and/or early morning calls with colleagues in China – schedule flexibility to accommodate this is a requirement. 
• Fulfill bank, reporting, and other third party requests.
• Travel occasionally (could vary, but typically less than 5 times per year) for team meetings, site visits, and other opportunities. 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

• 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in e-commerce or consumer goods with Asian manufacturing operations.
• Strong data management and data analysis skills, with Excel and BI tools / databases.
• A focus on finding efficiencies, including through software automation.
• Enterprise ERP experience (NetSuite preferred).
• Preference for dynamic, high-growth environments.
• A positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
• Undergrad or masters-level accounting degree.
• CPA preferred.

WHERE YOU’LL BE

• This is a remote-friendly role. You can be anywhere in the US. 
• We have offices in New York and San Francisco, which you can work out of if convenient.
